Usually no. We do not use a sprayer if people are living at the worksite. The sprayer creates a dusty mess. So, to protect your furniture and maintain a livable environment where you aren’t dancing around dust clouds, we do not spray.

Unless the workspace is empty and unoccupied, spraying doesn’t save time (or money) because it takes just as long to tape as it would paint with a brush and roller.

Always. Although our skilled painters can create near-perfect lines with a brush, nothing can beat the precise lines created by modern tape. The modern tapes have paint-blocking technology, which seals the tape edges and absorbs any paint before it leaks through.

Sheen is just the technical term for how shiny paint is. Sheen describes the amount of light reflecting off a dry, painted surface. We have ranked the sheen from shiny to dull:

• High-gloss (Shiny)

• Semi-gloss

• Satin

• Eggshell

• Flat or Matte (Dull)

Want to see what different sheens look like? Visit a local paint store. They usually have all the sheens next to each other under a light, so you can compare how the light reflects off each paint.

Choose your sheen for its functionality — the higher gloss, the easier the paint is to clean. We based our recommendations on how frequently these surfaces get touched. If you have children or pets, the surfaces may see more wear and tear, so consider increasing the sheen (especially for the frequently-touched walls).

We typically use between one and two coats. We use high-quality paints, meaning fewer coats, but the amount of coats we need still depends on the color change. We will let you know how many coats we need to achieve complete coverage in the estimate.

For subtle color changes, our expert painters only apply one thick coat. With the proper technique, this is enough for full coverage. We will use two coats of paint for considerable color changes, especially when going from a darker color to a lighter color.

We use water-based paints because no chemical cleanup is required. Modern water-based paints are as durable and dry much faster than oil-based paints. We do not use oil-based paints for interior projects unless you specifically request them.
